ABOUT THE JUNIOR
The 11th OGCC Junior Invitational will be held on Sunday, May 15th at the Onondaga Golf and Country Club in Fayetteville, NY. Any high school golfer in New York State is able to submit an application to play in this tournament (see below).
Johnny Gruninger, a senior golfer from Manlius Pebble Hill in Syracuse, won the Boys division for the third year in a row with a stellar round of even-par 71. There were many in contention down the stretch, but Johnny holed a twenty foot birdie on the 16th and then a fine two putt birdie at 17th to seal the victory. Julia Zigrossi, of Spencerport, fired a 2-over par 73 to capture the Girls Division and Nataly Avontis of Liverpool finished one back with an 3-over par 74. The OGCC Junior Invitational Committee extends invitations to golfers based upon their past tournament successes. These invitations will arrive via email and will be sent out in early February. Invited players must submit an entry online for the event (click here).
Golfers who do not receive an invitation may submit an application online (click here) to be consideration for entry by the OGCC Junior Committee.
